Is it possible to transfer soil-grown plants to hydroponics?

Yes, but we always advise people to be careful not to damage the roots of the plants. When transferring from compost or soil we recommend that you gently tap or shake the roots to remove any excess soil or compost.  We don't recommend washing the roots as this may put the plant into shock and potentially lead to the loss of the plant.   Make sure the hole into which you are transplanting is large enough that the root system doesn't get damaged or squashed and that the plant will be sitting at the same level as it was in the soil. The range of hydroponic systems, available online from The Achiltibuie Garden, are suitable for plants raised in soil or hydroponics.
