This is another system in extensive commercial use. Again a timer controlled pump delivers nutrient solution to drippers located at the base of each plant. In a Recovery Drip System the excess solution runs off and returns to the tank. A Non-Recovery System does not collect the run-off and allows the solution to run to waste.

The Recovery System is more efficient in its use of nutrients as the excess solution is re-used. The interval between waterings is not crucial as long as the plants do not dry out. The returning solution will cause the nutrient strength and pH to vary and so the tank must be checked regularly to adjust these variables.

The Non-Recovery System requires less maintenance because the excess nutrient does not return to the tank so the nutrient strength and pH do not become affected by this.

The interval between waterings is crucial. It must ensure that the plants are getting enough while keeping run-off to a minimum.
